First Chronicles remembers generations of names, David’s line, and the preparations he made for worship that another generation would carry forward. The song sees value in faithful work whose finish we may never witness. Every gift comes first from God, and we can gladly offer it back. Jesus is the promised heir of David’s line, giving the long record of people a living hope.
