Second Samuel follows David’s reign through promise, triumph, grievous sin, and its consequences. The song does not excuse the harm done by a powerful king; it holds together accountability, repentance, and God’s enduring promise to David’s house. That promise reaches its fulfillment in Jesus Christ, the Son of David and risen King, whose rule is righteous and faithful.
